Tiprod

TIBProd. went live on the 25 January 2003. The original intentions were to do a monthly mp3-update with a few of my own productions and hopefully a few things from various other artists. I wanted to create a place for the music I like and the music I make. Nothing else ... I liked the idea of promoting the music by no other means but with the music itself.

The demo-version of tibprod.com was heavily inspired by Aneff's mp3-label Mahorka. The MP3-Singles-page still reminds a lot of the Mahorka-page. But I was soon to find the need for a bit more, the need to do one page for mp3-singles and one for MP3-Albums. A sort of News-Page to give an overview of the new additions and a few pages to give the visitors a chance to find more music by the artists participating. For those who know html/webdesign and such the TIBProd-thing might possibly be the worst thing around. But then, what do I care? I'd rather spend time doing music than reading/learning stuff just to make the pages look more ... eh ... professional.

I've received a lot of feedback since those first mp3-releases. And several demo's. So much that at some point I started thinking about maybe releasing a few CDR's. Just to see what happened. The first release to be the collaboration between Guignol Dangereux and myself. Since then there was releases by Norwegian Noise Orchestra, ODRZ05, Ivan Bachev, Chefkirk, Staplerfahrer, André H. Borgen, Oscillator707 as well as a few with myself, and also the Reconstruct-thing ...

I was also approaced by a few labels asking me if I wanted to do some distibution. Without actually knowing how to deal with this I answered yes ... TIBProd. was never about money but if I wanted to continue to make CDR's I had to make at least a few Euro's. But, to be honest, people seem to prefer the free stuff, very few actually buys the records. Maybe because I'm not a good promotor, maybe because the shopping-page is not made easy enough, there may be lots of reasons. So far I've spent more money than what has come in but the thing will go on. These things take time. The goal being non-profit, to make the wheels go round without having to spend my own money ... Things are getting better every day so no need or wish to stop now. In fact, I'm sort of addicted to the tibprod-thing by now ...

Plans for 2004 include releasing Reconstruct 2; the Cadmium Dunkel-remixes, maybe even kicking off a Reconstruct 3-project, releasing several CDR's and finding more good music for the mp3-section. The Shop will be made easier and as I've also had requests for a Chat/Discussion-page I am now working on such a thing.

Wishes for 2004 include getting a better distribution of the records; selling more means producing more.

2003 was great. I aim to make 2004 even better. Keep sending demos, mailing me ideas and/or suggestions on anything ...
